Aluminum profile processing can be classified into two dimensions: basic processing categories and secondary deep processing technologies. Different classifications correspond to different production stages and application scenarios:
Classification by Basic Processing Categories in the Aluminum Industry Chain
Aluminum processing is generally divided into two categories: deformation processing and casting processing. Aluminum profiles belong to the core category of deformation processing:
Extrusion Forming: This is the most fundamental processing method for aluminum profiles. Heated aluminum rods are extruded through a specific die through an extruder, producing aluminum profiles with different cross-sectional shapes. It supports the production of complex cross-sectional structures, with a wall thickness accuracy of ±0.05mm. Finished products cover various forms such as architectural profiles and industrial profiles, and it is currently the mainstream process for aluminum profile production.
Other deformation processing methods include rolling and stretching, mainly used to produce aluminum sheets, strips, and foils, and less often directly producing profiles.
Classification by Secondary Deep Processing Technology of Industrial Aluminum Profiles
Finished aluminum profiles require further deep processing depending on the application scenario. Common processing types include the following five:
Cutting: The most basic deep processing step, cutting the original 6-meter-long aluminum profile to the designed dimensions and angles. Strict precision control is required to ensure a smooth, burr-free cross-section. This is typically done using CNC cutting equipment.
Drilling: A pre-processing step for installing accessories. Different types of holes are machined according to requirements, such as through holes, countersunk holes, blind holes, and mounting holes. The accuracy and depth of the holes must be strictly controlled according to the drawings.
Tapping: Divided into end-face tapping and drilling tapping. Threads are generally machined in pre-machined holes on the end face of the profile for subsequent screw connection and fixation. The depth must be controlled during machining, and lubricant should be used to extend the tap life.
Fine Machining: Machining steps for high-precision requirements, including milling holes, milling grooves, milling surfaces, end milling, and bending. Specialized CNC equipment is required to complete precision machining to meet the dimensional accuracy requirements of equipment frames and structural components. Assembly involves assembling the finished aluminum profiles and accessories into a finished structure (such as an assembly line frame or workbench). Assembly can be done in the factory or on-site using specialized tools such as hex wrenches and rubber mallets.
