Based on general cleaning standards for aluminum processing molds, common cleaning methods for aluminum alloy strip insertion equipment molds are divided into two types: mechanical removal and chemical cleaning.
Pre-treatment and Tool Selection Select appropriate tools for different parts of the mold to avoid damaging the cavity:
Mold Cavity: Use copper brushes, copper spatulas, or stainless steel brushes. Do not use steel brushes to prevent scratching the working surface of the cavity. Use a brush to clean the gaps.
Mold Frame/Pattern: Use steel brushes and steel spatulas to remove stubborn stains. Use a cloth and brush for assistance.
Electrical Parts such as Wires and Switches: Wipe only with a brush and a dry cloth, avoiding contact with water.
Mechanical Removal (Routine Daily Cleaning)
Pre-cleaning Protection: Before cleaning, plug the inlets and outlets of the mold's water pipes, oil pipes, and air pipes with a cloth, or turn the openings downwards to prevent aluminum slag and debris from entering the pipes; seal the wire inlets and outlets to prevent liquid from entering and causing leakage or short circuits.
Top-to-bottom cleaning: Clean the mold surface from top to bottom, removing all aluminum slag, oil, and dust. Take care not to bump or scratch the mold cavity, core, or other forming parts.
Kerosene cleaning: Soak and scrub the mold with kerosene, paying particular attention to right angles, grooves, and small holes where dirt can easily accumulate. Ensure the parting surface, cavity, and sliding parts are completely clean.
Drying and inspection: Thoroughly dry the mold with compressed air, especially ensuring switches and plugs are dry and free of oil. Inspect all parts; any damage or malfunction should be repaired immediately.
Maintenance and storage: For molds without problems, apply anti-rust oil to all sliding/forming parts, including guide pillars, guide sleeves, and cavities. Then store in a fixed location and record maintenance information.
